New Braunfels Music

After graduating with a BA in Music from Texas Lutheran University, James Hargreaves earned a teaching certificate and currently serves as the assistant band director for Smithson Valley Middle School in Spring Branch. He has been teaching as a band director for 4 years with an emphasis on the woodwind instruments and Jazz Band.

Mr. Hargreaves is available to teach saxophone, clarinet, or bass clarinet for students of any level, beginner to advanced. A strong emphasis is placed on consistent tone quality, practice habits, technical skills and reading skills, as well as scale study and performance. Students will be exposed to varied styles of music, ranging from classical to jazz, with particular focus on improvisational skills in Jazz music.
